You cannot, as a couple walk around South Tenerife for long without coming across people trying to sell you timeshare weeks. You will often be asked to attend a presentation for a scheme you are told is holiday ownership, Holiday Club membership and the like. You will often receive a gift for your time. On other occasions you may win a prize with a scratch card but have to attend a "meeting" in order to collect it.
Many people own timeshares and are very happy with it. We do not criticise timeshare as it is a very good scheme for those people who only want to use a property for their own holidays and want the availability to swap their weeks for other resorts worldwide from year to year. 
What we do criticise is some of the tactics used to persuade you to buy. Some people feel intimidated and sign up for something they regret shortly afterwards. There are now safeguards to consumers but it is necessary to act swiftly. If you feel that you have been pressurised or have been given false information it may be possible to rescind the contract. We can advise you of what can be done.
